Embracing God's Promise of Abundance When Hardship Endures
The Gift of Presence

"In Your presence there is fullness of joy." Psalm 16:11 ESV

I hate it when my kids get sick. Right now we have one child with a persistent dry cough--a very persistent dry cough. I'm thankful its only a cough but the incessant hacking is enough to drive my daughter--and the rest of her family--crazy.

I've tried everything to sooth our daughter's cough. Candy at midnight, ice-cold juice water at 2AM, cold night air, warm compress, honey, moisture in the air. I've rubbed all kinds of things on her feet. Finally, last night out of sheer exhaustion I gave her the only other thing I could think of . . . myself. I placed a pillow at the end of her bed, grabbed a blanket and fell asleep beside her. I woke up an hour later to the smoke detector chirping (why, oh WHY do those things only detect a low battery in the middle of the night?!?) and found my daughter sleeping peacefully by my side.

I was reminded last night that sometimes our presence is the best thing we can extend to someone. Speaking of our Heavenly Parent the Psalmist wrote, "In Your presence there is fullness of joy." (Psalm 16:11)

I don't know that my daughter necessarily felt joy in my presence at 3AM this morning but she did seem to experience a deep sense of peace.

God gave us the gift of His presence through the birth of His Son. Those who profess their faith in the Son of God have the very Spirit of God--God's own presence--in them at all times (Ephesians 1:13). God has promised, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). God's gift of presence is a gift worth celebrating at Christmastime and throughout the new year.

Crossing Your Jordan

I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling, Bible-teaching mom of six, and wife to my college sweetheart. I believe everyone can live a life of abundance through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and radical obedience to His Word.

Do you have a relationship with God through Christ? If not, I would consider it pure joy to tell you about God, why you need Him, and how to be reconciled to Him through Christ.

If you know Christ as your Savior, do you know how to follow Him as Lord? If, like me, life's challenges have caused you to question whether you truly want to follow God's plan for you, or you simply don't know how to recognize God's ways due to a lack of biblical literacy, I would love to teach you what I've come to know about God through His Word.

Regardless of who you are (or aren't) or what you have (or haven't) done, I invite you to find a comfy spot, grab a cup of coffee and a Bible, and enter your contact information below.
