Embracing God's Promise of Abundance When Hardship Endures
Turning My Heart Toward My Child
by Jenny on March 17th, 2015

"He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents." Malachi 4:6

Last Thursday was one of those days. A day that I didn't feel like being a mom. Instead of feeling like a mama bear who wanted to snuggle with her cubs, I felt like a big, brown grizzly bear who wanted nothing more than to spend her last few weeks of winter hibernating alone in a deep, dark cave. Blame it on pregnancy hormones or late-night Wednesday night church activities but last Thursday morning I struggled to see how I would ever muster the strength to be all my kids would need me to be that day.

And then I remembered God's truth.

The truth is that God wants me to care for my children.

Realizing I would never make it through the day in my own strength, I prayed the words of Malachi 4:6, "God, please turn my heart toward my children today." And . . . He did.

After praying my short, simple prayer, I gathered the strength to get up off the couch to do the next thing. I made breakfast for my hungry little bear cubs. Next, I washed the dishes and encouraged my pack to clean up for the day. We made our way through school that morning and by lunchtime I couldn't wait to take my little bears outside so that I could simply sit and enjoy watching them play.

What do you need to make it through today? James 4:2 tells us that we don't have because we don't ask. James warns that if we ask for things out of selfish motives, God will likely leave our requests unmet. However, when we ask for things according to God's Word, God will equip us with all we need (Hebrews 13:21).

Jenny this was perfect, I loved every written word of it! It doesn't matter whether you have 2 cubs or a dozen we all have been there. "I think most people call it life just getting in the way!" Thanks for reminding us to ask, too often we forget that. This weekend was very emotional for us seeing Aunt Jill. She was very brave--we attended the church service with the family and it was appreciated. The brevity of the situation is still heavy in our hearts. Please continue to pray for their family.

Oh, this is what my heart needed to hear today.

Welcome!
Crossing Your Jordan

I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling, Bible-teaching mom of six, and wife to my college sweetheart. I believe everyone can live a life of abundance through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and radical obedience to His Word.

Do you have a relationship with God through Christ? If not, I would consider it pure joy to tell you about God, why you need Him, and how to be reconciled to Him through Christ.

If you know Christ as your Savior, do you know how to follow Him as Lord? If, like me, life's challenges have caused you to question whether you truly want to follow God's plan for you, or you simply don't know how to recognize God's ways due to a lack of biblical literacy, I would love to teach you what I've come to know about God through His Word.

Regardless of who you are (or aren't) or what you have (or haven't) done, I invite you to find a comfy spot, grab a cup of coffee and a Bible, and enter your contact information below.
