Embracing God's Promise of Abundance When Hardship Endures
More Than Worthy
by Jenny on October 8th, 2015

Waiting for my husband to get home from work, I began to put pen to paper for the lesson I will teach to a ladies group on Sunday. Scrolling through the Psalms I came across Psalm 81.

"I heard an unknown voice say,
'Now I will take the load from your shoulders;
I will free your hands from their heavy tasks.
You cried to Me in trouble, and I saved you;
I answered out of the thundercloud
and tested your faith when there was no water at Meribah.'" (Psalm 81:5b-7)

“Listen to Me, O My people, while I give you stern warnings.
O Israel, if you would only listen to Me!
But no, My people wouldn’t listen. Israel did not want Me around.
So I let them follow their own stubborn desires,
living according to their own ideas." (Psalm 81:8, 11-12)

"Oh, that My people would listen to Me!
Oh, that Israel would follow Me, walking in My paths!
 . . . I would feed you with the finest wheat.
I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock.” (Psalm 81:13, 16)

In Psalm 81, God is speaking to Israel. But having been adopted into God's family through Christ (Ephesians 1:5), I don't hesitate to live as though God is addressing me too.

Thank You, God, for promising to carry my burdens. (Psalm 81:6, Matthew 11:28)

Thank You, God, for testing my faith because now I know that You are real. (Psalm 81:7, 1 Peter 1:7)

Forgive me, God, for the times I turn away from You; for the times I act as though I do not want You around; for the times I fail to listen to you.

Thank You, God, for showing me the way I should go. (Psalm 81:13, Proverbs 3:6)

Thank You, God, for feeding me with Your Word (Matthew 4:4), and for satisfying me with Yourself (John 10:10).

You want more than to be worshiped on Sunday. You want my heart, my trust, my love. Take it, Lord, because you are more than worthy of my all.

Crossing Your Jordan

I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling, Bible-teaching mom of six, and wife to my college sweetheart. I believe everyone can live a life of abundance through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and radical obedience to His Word.

Do you have a relationship with God through Christ? If not, I would consider it pure joy to tell you about God, why you need Him, and how to be reconciled to Him through Christ.

If you know Christ as your Savior, do you know how to follow Him as Lord? If, like me, life's challenges have caused you to question whether you truly want to follow God's plan for you, or you simply don't know how to recognize God's ways due to a lack of biblical literacy, I would love to teach you what I've come to know about God through His Word.

Regardless of who you are (or aren't) or what you have (or haven't) done, I invite you to find a comfy spot, grab a cup of coffee and a Bible, and enter your contact information below.
